Driven
Since 1979, award winning
Compuset Printing and Graphic
Solutions in Montreal has been
committed to maintaining a
leadership position in print
technology. That dedication led
to Compuset becoming home to the
first Canadian installation of
the Heidelberg Suprasetter SCL
105 computer-to-plate system.
Introduced at DRUPA 2004 and
engineered from the ground up by
Heidelberg, the Suprasetter is
designed with modularity and
automation in mind. Compuset's
Suprasetter is equipped with an
Internal Punch, Single Cassette
Loader and an On-line Processor.

The company's migration
towards seamless automated
manufacturing also made
Heidelberg's Prinect suite of
integrated production tools a
perfect fit. Implementing
Prinect's JDF/CIP4 workflow
enables Compuset to manage its
production digitally from
estimating to finishing,
promoting efficient and
error-free processing of client
files.
"At Compuset, we take full
responsibility for our
customers' projects from disk to
distribution," states Kevin
Cross, President. "However,
despite our commitment
to technology, we have never
forgotten that good old fashion
service, quality and value are
the cornerstones of any
business".
The Suprasetter SCL 105 and the
Prinect environment both
contribute to Compuset's market
leading position, improving the
company's efficiency and
satisfying its clients' most
challenging demands.
"The ability to be able to make
plates for repeat jobs with the
touch of a button and knowing we
are ensured quality and
consistency every time gives us
an advantage in today's market,"
says Bill Maitland, Director of
Operations, commenting on the
Suprasetter SCL 105.
"The plates being punched and
ready for the press complements
our press register system,
resulting in reduced make-ready
time. The flexibility to supply
different curves to compensate
for different stocks and
substrates to match our proofs
is a huge plus- no surprises
during press approvals". adds
Maitland.
"We are confident knowing that
our downtime is minimized, so
that we can honour our
commitments to our clients. Our
capability to consistently
output high quality printing
plates in about three minutes to
complement our presses...
priceless!"
Compuset is also making the
utmost of the Prinect suite of
products to drive productivity.
Prinect Prinance is used to
generate estimates as well as
order confirmations. Job Dockets
are generated digitally and
passed on to production
departments. Prinect's
Printready System is a fully
automated PDF workflow,
multi-tasking processes and jobs
that prepress assign with
extreme accuracy and speed.
Printready allows the prepress
operators to manage their work
and the system from a fully
functional Cockpit on their own
Macintosh or PC workstation. The
Cockpit works interactively with
both the imposition software,
Prinect Signa Station and
Prinect Meta Dimension, the RIP
that initiates colour managed
proofs and press-ready plates.
Finally, the presetting data
generated through Compucut is
also fed seamlessly through the
Prinect workflow. Prinect Signa
Station creates the layout for
the sheet and Compucut
interprets the cutting sequence
and parameters for the automatic
programming of Compuset's Polar
137ED Cutting System.
"These proactive changes in our
processes as a result of our
customer focus will make us even
more competitive in both the
Canadian and U.S. marketplace,"
states Carol Wood, Compuset's
Vice President.
